This Cavite attraction is right along Maragondon River. Here’s my blog on a Riverfront Garden Resort review about their rates, menu, and more!
2020 has been a difficult year for everyone. Sometimes I just want to spend some quiet time outdoors — among the trees, along a calm river, and under the open sky. That is exactly what we did during our last trip in 2020, at Riverfront Garden Resort in Maragondon, Cavite.
Since we were already in Cavite to be with my family for the holidays, we thought we’d go just a little farther to Maragondon. What’s great about this place is that there’s so much flora around. We enjoyed our overnight stay lounging around, taking a dip at the swimming pools, and (shamelessly) eating our hearts out. It was a perfect quiet but indulgent end to a chaotic year that was.
Here’s our experience and my Riverfront Garden Resort review:
Our Riverfront Garden Resort review
Riverfront Garden Resort is located in Cavite, along the Maragondon River. It was a one-hectare property of a Filipino-German family who developed the space and filled it with mahogany trees. It gained popularity for its glamping huts amongst lush greenery, which are truly affordable.
I found out about the Riverfront Garden Resort since October. But since it’s always fully-booked and I wanted it to be a little more deserted, I booked on a weekday before New Year’s Eve. When we arrived, there were still quite a bit of people because they allowed day tours until 5PM. But beyond that time, it was like an oasis we owned.
We spent the day taking photos by the river, eating grilled seafood, drinking cold beer, swimming (we almost had the pool to ourselves!), and just quietly talking inside bamboo cottages. The staff was super accommodating, too!
At night, we retreated to our glamping fan room. Though it looks small on the outside, it’s actually spacious enough on the inside. Though it was quite humid inside (probably because of the river and forest), by dawn, I was glad for it since it could get pretty chilly outside in December. Overall our Riverfront Garden Resort stay was the best trip of 2020 — not that there’ve been a lot!

Tips for your Maragondon riverside staycation
How to drive to Riverfront Garden Resort. Simply set your Waze or Google maps pin to Riverfront Garden Resort. From Manila, you are most likely to take Coastal Road and Cavitex, both of which require Easytrip tolls.
How to commute to Riverfront Garden Resort. From Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), ride a bus going to Ternate or Maragondon. Fare is around PHP60. Get off along the street of Maragondon Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP). Then, ride a tricycle going to Riverfront Garden Resort. Fare is around PHP30/pax, though might be more expensive for special rides.
Best time to visit. Weekday rates are much cheaper so I suggest planning your visit in the middle of the week. Since they get fully-booked quite easily and there is a maximum capacity limit, I suggest booking in advance even for day tours.
What to wear. Be sure to pack some swimsuits as they are required at the swimming pools. I suggest bringing cover-ups too especially when it gets cold at night. Wear light fabrics that are suited for lounging around. I suggest wearing slippers or sandals so you can easily jump in and out of the pool.
Things to bring. If you plan to spend some time outdoors at night, bring some mosquito repellents. It’s also helpful to bring plastic to store wet clothes in, plugs or extension cords for charging, powerbanks, and cash for payments. Since it could be quite humid especially during the rainy season, you can also bring fans. Keep in mind that they provide towels and basic toiletries.
Activities to do. The best thing to do in Riverfront resort is simply to wade around the swimming pool, lounge around the day beds, and feast in good food and beer. This is a great place to relax and just watch time pass by.
Where to eat. I suggest eating at their restaurant since they provide reasonably priced especially if you’re a smaller group. You can also bring your own water since it could be quite expensive if you keep buying bottled ones. Along the way, you can try roadside eateries and diners in Maragondon, most prominently, Lolo Claro’s.
COVID19 Regulations. Riverfront Garden Resort does not require medical certificates. However, they operate at 50% capacity and have an 80pax guest limit, which is why they get fully booked quickly. Only guests aged 15 – 65 years old are allowed. As usual, temperature checks and face masks are required and social distancing must be observed.
Riverfront Garden Resort was the best staycation to cap off 2020. We truly enjoyed our time glamping and being around nature! If you have any questions about our experience, feel free to send me a message on Facebook!
