Evia MX4D: The Experiential Cinema

“Hold your popcorns. The seats move.” Two hours after watching Batman vs. Superman, I found out that moving seats aren’t the only things to experience at Evia MX4D Cinema.

Here’s a fact: I’m not a moviegoer. I’ve always thought that my money can go elsewhere than two hours sitting on a chair. Why spend so much when I can wait for free showing and new downloads in a few months?

On Josh’s birthday, however, we had the opportunity to watch Batman vs. Superman. We headed over to the first MX4D cinema in the Philippines at Evia Lifestyle Center, the new Vista Mall in town. It is easily accessible via SCTEX and the MCTEX if you’re coming from North. Evia is only a mere 1.5 hour drive from Makati City.

The Villar-owned property is definitely making waves even if the tenants are still very few. One of the innovations they introduced is the Evia MX4D cinema experience.

What is Evia MX4D like?

If you have ever been to Enchanted Kingdom as a child, you will remember the 4D cinema called Rialto. Well, the MX4D cinema is a more sophisticated experience than that. It gives you the perspective of not just watching from the sidelines, but being the superhero in the movie. How?

It engages the senses via 3D visuals, moving seats, rushing air, surprising smells, water sputtering, smokes, flashing lights, and Dolby Atmos surround sound. But it’s not all rough and tumble. Evia MX4D Cinema provides cozy lounge chairs perfect for movie dates. In this instance, we watched no less than the action-packed Batman Vs. Superman movie! The result?

On scenes with exchanges of firepower, lights flashed on the peripheral view of the cinema as if the shooting occurs nearby. Car chases caused us to be in character as the seats jolt, tilt, and poke. Smoke spewed from the front of the cinema during hazy scenes, such as in the rubble of a destroyed building. And the sound system is projected from every direction, according to the on-screen action, making everything surprising. We literally had to hold on tight, because even the seats next to ours move in a different sequence!evia mx4d

Prepare for your first MX4D Experience

Based on experience, it’s best to bring a thick jacket or shawl because there will be rushing wind right at your arm rest. It’s also best to digest your meals before watching a movie. Eating popcorn and drinking is okay while watching the movie. Just hold on extra tight for car chase and other action scenes.

For those with motion sickness, drink up your meds. Not that the MX4D cinema is an extremely dizzying. But just in case, you don’t want to throw up your soda and popcorn on the luxury seats! And for those who want to take selfies afterwards, bring your makeup kit and perfume because you might be delightfully disheveled post-movie.

Catch More Heroes

If you’re planning to watch at the Evia MX4D Cinema soon, watch out for the showing of Avengers: Civil Wars. They will have a 24-hour lineup which you can book at your most convenient time! For updates on movie schedules and ticket prices, please visit their website.

As I said, I’m really not a moviegoer. But I have already proposed to bringing my family here to enjoy the experience. If you’re gonna spend for a movie anyway, I highly recommend you spend for the entire experience. By the end of the movie, at least you can say, “I know how Doomsday smells!”

I have been to a 4D cinema before and it was awesome. It was only a short movie but it was with superheros. I still remember when one of the characters sneezed, the chair in front splashed a bit of water over our faces. It felt very real, haha, there was also wind and the chairs would move too.

Hahaha!! Not sure though if you liked that feeling. Haha. Even the sewers smell in the movie wasn’t attractive, but I loved it. IT’s part of the experience. Just pack perfume.

I love going to the cinema! I am a moviegoer. And I go as often as I can :). This cinema looks very nice. I’ve never seen something like Evia MX4D, but it sure sounds like a lot of fun.

Whoah! I didn’t know that we have this kind of theater in the country. It’s something to look forward indeed whenever I get the chance to visit the northern part of the country, for sure.

I have been gone to several big cinemas in our place, especially in the mall. The theater seats are comfortable. It could be reclined, depending on your desire to do it. But they are not moving. This one is different.

WOW! That’s the way to go and why movie cinemas are here to stay despite streaming video services. First of all, those seats look pretty comfortable and the effect of movement plus the sounds increases the viewing experience that cannot be matched!
